Shrek

November 27-December 2, 2012

Presented by North Carolina Theatre & Broadway Series South

Shrek The Musical, based on the Oscar-winning DreamWorks film that started it all, brings the hilarious story of everyone’s favorite ogre to life on stage. In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemingly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a donkey who won’t shut up, a villain with a SHORT temper, a cookie with an attitude and over a dozen other fairy tale misfits, and you’ve got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero. Luckily, there’s one on hand…and his name is Shrek. Shrek The Musical is part romance, part twisted fairy tale and all irreverent fun for everyone!

Venue: Raleigh Memorial Auditorium

Nerds

January 18-February 3, 2013

Produced by North Carolina Theatre

NERDS, A New Musical Comedy is a cheeky original musical that celebrates the birth of computer technology and the two pop-culture icons that made it possible, Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. The show follows the lives of the founding fathers of modern computing as they rise from nerds to billionaires, making a mark on history, and defining the golden age of technology as we know it. Before Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were household names and billionaires, they were…NERDS. NERDS will star Diana DeGarmo alongside Broadway favorites Darren Ritchie and Leslie Kritzer. NC Theatre is proud to be producing this pre-Broadway engagement, a first for the Raleigh arts community. Local audiences will have the unique opportunity to be a part of the creation of a show aiming for a future Broadway run. Directed by Marc Bruni Choreography by Denis Jones *Please note, we rate this show as PG-13 for language, adult content & adult situations.*

Monty Python’s Spamalot

Presented by North Carolina Theatre & Broadway Series South

The second coming of Broadway’s #1 musical comedy smash! The funniest show on earth is back to taunt Raleigh for a second time! Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, Monty Python’s Spamalot, the musical comedy sensation lovingly ripped off from the film classic “Monty Python and The Holy Grail,” now returns to spread laughter and cheer throughout the kingdom. Spamalot tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. But before they can find their grail, they’re taking a little side-trip to the fair city of Raleigh.

The Drowsy Chaperone

May 7-12, 2013

Produced by North Carolina Theatre

A rare combination of unprecedented originality and blinding talent, The Drowsy Chaperone boldly addresses a great unspoken desire in all of our hearts: to be entertained. If you’ve ever sat in a dark theatre and thought, “Dear Lord in heaven, please let it be good,” this is the show for you! It all begins when a die-hard musical theater fan plays his favorite cast album on his turntable, and the musical literally bursts to life in his living room, telling the rambunctious tale of a brazen Broadway starlet trying to find, and keep, her true love.

Venue: Raleigh Memorial Auditorium

Altar Boyz

July 12-21, 2013

Produced by North Carolina Theatre

Altar Boyz is a foot-stomping, rafter-raising, musical comedy about a fictitious Christian boy-band on the last night of their national 'Raise the Praise' tour. The Boyz are five all-singing, all-dancing heartthrobs from Ohio: Matthew, Mark, Luke, Juan and Abraham. With their tight harmonies and spectacular choreography, the Altar Boyz will delight your audiences. As they perform their signature hits such as 'Rhythm In Me,' 'The Calling,' and 'I Believe,' the Boyz question their loyalty to each other and ask whether or not faith is really holding them together. They finally deliver a message of unity, that 'there is no star as bright as its constellation, no harmony in a single voice.'
