The Lipson family has been a part of NC Theatre since its beginning. Read more about them and their gift to NC Theatre.
Alan and Janice Lipson have been friends of NC Theatre for thirty years. For Disney's The Little Mermaid, Janice gave a gift to NCT in honor of Alan's birthday. And in honor of their gift and Alan's birthday, we'd like let everyone know how much the Lipson family means to NC Theatre.
In 1984, NC Theatre, then known as Carolina Regional Theatre, opened its very first show Camelot. After seeing the show, Janice and Alan became season subscribers to NC Theatre, and have stayed season subscribers ever since. As the years progressed, the Lipsons became Backer's Club members and Janice became an orchestra pit member playing Woodwinds in 1996. A few years later in 2002, Alan's mother moved to Raleigh and she too became a season subscriber and Backer's Club member.
In 2003, Janice and Alan welcomed their daughter, Caroline. With their strong and passionate involvement to NCT, it was only natural for Caroline to be involved too. They began taking her to shows when she was very young, and when Caroline was four, she began classes at NCT Conservatory. Caroline has been in four NC Theatre shows including Evita (2011), Oliver! (2012), Les Misérables (2014), and she's now a "Pink Jellyfish", "Frog", and "Fish" in Disney's The Little Mermaid.
Janice said, "NCT and NCTC are our family that we feel privileged and proud to be a part of." But the privilege truly is ours, Janice, Alan, and Caroline! A very happy birthday to you, Alan, and we are SO thankful for the last 30 years with the Lipsons, and we cannot wait for the next thirty!
