The North Carolina Theatre Conservatory provides robust arts programming that includes year-round theatre classes for youth ages 3 to Adult. The Conservatory offers a variety of classes in performance, dance, acting, and voice. The NCT Conservatory is a safe, supportive, challenging, innovative, and fun environment where students discover and develop their creative voices. Our training provides students with a profound path to empowerment and unlocking their artistic potential.

Fall/Spring classes include:
Mini Course: Sing!, Dance Act! (Age 3-7)
This course focuses on our youngest performers as they begin to explore the basics of acting, singing, and movement.
This class is designed for the budding young artist who never stops moving. These classes will be divided into two segments: the first half of the class will explore acting, dance, and voice. This will be followed by the second half of class focusing on the Showcase performance.

Musical Theatre Dance Styles (Age 8-18)
In this class, students will learn combinations and explore dance styles with the landscape of contemporary and musical theatre.

Acting Through Song (Age 8-18)
This class explores a skill every musical theatre actor needs, believably portraying a character and telling a story through song.

Triple Theatre Training (Age 8-18)
These classes focus on dance, acting and voice instruction to build musical theatre fundamentals, establish a foundation in each discipline and foster confidence in young performers.
Acting Technique (Age 8-18)
Students in Acting Technique classes work to put together a sharing of monologues and scenes from Broadway and Off-Broadway plays & musicals. These classes focus on characterization, dialogue memorization, and acting basics.
Voice Technique (Age 8-18)
Students in Voice Technique classes work to share solo and ensemble selections from Broadway and Off-Broadway shows. These classes focus attention on the basics of voice, building your vocal book/audition repertoire, and vocal performance.
Digital Sound Design & Editing (Age 12+)
In this course, students will learn how to navigate Logic Pro’s interface, cut music tracks and mash-up songs, edit the tempo and pitch of tracks, and much more! The course also includes interactive assignments and experimental time with the software to help students get more comfortable with the interface and its essential functions. Upon leaving this course, students will be well-equipped with skills they can apply to the theatre, whether making tracks for audition tapes or transposing their sheet music.
Music Theory (Age 12+)
Music Theory will set you on your way with ten weeks of engaging and interactive music theory lessons. This program will help you learn music theory and build a solid musical knowledge base through class discussions, interactive tools, and personalized feedback that will help you practice music theory daily.
Pre-Professional Training: Audition Required (Age 12+)
Leveraging Type & Archetype (Age 14+)
This course is geared toward intermediate-advanced or working actors, directors, and playwrights and draws heavily from Jungian archetypal theory and Joseph Campbell’s “Hero’s Journey.” branding.
Tech 101 (Age 15+)
This introductory course explores the backstage world of theatre. Students will investigate several areas of production and design from both a practical and a theoretical base.
Dance Technique (Age 8-18)
Dance Technique classes focus on the various dance styles required for many Broadway shows. This class will learn the basics of tap, ballet, jazz, and theatre styles.
College Prep Department
The College Prep Department is a multi-level program for high school performers in 10th – 12th grade who are interested in pursuing theatre in undergrad or professionally after high school.
